A carved lapis lazuli buffalo with gilt-bronze stand
The alert-looking recumbent animal with its head slightly raised and turned to the right, the wrinkled skin on the back of its neck and the curving spine realistically executed, the tip of its tail rendered with incised lines, each of the four hooves well defined and tucked in underneath; the rich blue boulder marked with black and tiny gold color flecks, as well as some white and lighter blue inclusions; the separate double-pedestal gilt-bronze stand with incised key-fret borders and floral design to the top.
