A large cast bronze seated figure of the Amitabha Buddha

The imposing figure with serene expression and downcast eyes, plump face and neck, his head surmounted with a prominent ushnisha and tight conical curls with a small urna at the front, his hands gently held in bhumisparsa mudra calling the earth to witness and to commemorate his victory over temptation, seated in dhyanasana with chakra incised on upward-facing feet below the domed chest centered with a raised svastika and framed by a loosely draped robe with embellished hem containing decoration of lotus and peony blossoms, the interior garments tied with a bow at the waist, all raised atop a separately cast multi-tiered lotus-form base; showing remnants of lacquer, gilt and red pigments with blue pigment visible on the head.
