A gilt bronze figure of a bodhisattva
Tang dynasty
Cast seated in a pose of royal ease with the left leg pendant, the right hand raised and holding a small sacred jewel, the hair bound up into a prominent topknot and the lithe body clothed in a diaphanous garment falling in decorative folds to the front of the tall pedestal base ringed with lotus petals above an octagonal plinth, with projecting flanges to the back of the head and base.
