An imperial yellow embroidered silk twelve-symbol dragon robe
Late Qing dynasty
Its nine dragons embroidered in couched gilt threads with polychrome silk details also used for the clouds, bats, shou medallions and each of the twelve symbols appearing on the turquoise blue wanzi-diapered ground and tall lishui border; the symbols on the front including the fu and ax above aquatic grasses and the pair of cups, the neck and shoulder area displaying the constellation, sun, moon and mountain peaks while a dragon and phoenix, flames and millet grass appear on the back.
