A group of four pieced silk brocade panels
18th/19th century
Including two large panels made from the vertical join of two lengths of brocade: one woven with horizontal registers of lotus flowers and leafy scrolls in subdued colors on a pale rose ground, the second with brightly colored flowers sprinkled on a dark blue ground patterned with wanzi diapers; the third a single vertical panel featuring 'One Hundred Antiques' in rich colors on a leaf green satin ground trimmed with brown brocade borders; the fourth an elaborately pieced and appliquéd panel constructed from Chinese floral brocades in a leaf green and deep blue ground, the lining of Japanese pieced blue silk brocade with white and black-imprinted ivy crest (tsuta mon).
