A group of three large pieced silk brocade panels
18th/19th century
Each constructed from two lengths joined vertically down the middle: the pale sea-green silk and dark pink silk panels woven with similar horizontal registers of peony sprays alternating with smaller flowers in white and subtly colored silk threads; the third displaying a steel-blue ground elaborately woven with mirror-back and chevron-shaped reserves joined vertically and horizontally by narrow strips against intricately diapered patterns with scarlet red, green and dark yellow threads predominating and tiny details picked out in gilt-wrapped threads.
