Faulkner, William. Land of the Pharaohs. Dialogue transcript, submitted to British Board of Censors, and returned with their notes on unacceptable scenes.
A William Faulkner dialogue transcript for Land of the Pharoahs
Warner Bros., 1955. Mimeographed manuscript, 49 pages, legal folio, 1955, together with a 2 page dialogue transcript of the film's trailer, both staple bound. Together with two typed letters signed of M.B Ashdown, dated August 26, 1955, to Warner Brothers Studios, on British Board of Film Censors letterhead, assigning a "U" to both the film and the trailer. Faulkner, Harry Kurnitz, and Harold Jack Bloom all shared screenwriting credit on Land of the Pharoahs, a sword-and-sand epic centered around the construction of the great pyramids. The two notes from the British censors take offense at scenes of Pharoah slapping his second wife Nellifer (played by Joan Collins) and another shot of Collins being whipped.
