Arched Sculptural Gibeon Meteorite
Iron, Fine Octahedrite
Nambia, Africa
No meteorite collection would be complete without at least one specimen from the famous Gibeon fall. Here is a large, fine example with a distinctive arched shape, numerous regmaglypts, attractive gunmetal patina and an impressive scoop. Larger bowl-shaped scoops are generally attributed to the presence of troilite inclusions which melted during the meteorite's descent through the atmosphere. Gibeon meteorites are composed of iron-nickel with significant amounts of cobalt and phosphorus. Weighing 31.6 lbs and measuring 9 1/2 x 5 1/2 x 2 1/2 in
