Wulfenite Crystals on Matrix

When we think of Los Lamentos wulfenites, we normally think of thick, butterscotch-y blocks. This large matrix specimen (with typical light-colored matrix) is coated with small (¼ inch) transparent yellowish orange plates that are not diagnostic for a locality; but some of the largest ones show evidence of thickening into "classic" Los Lamentos crystals. This specimen shows crystals just becoming distinctive of their place in the world, and as such tells a good story. Measures 11 x 8 ½ x 5 ½ in
