Fire Agate Specimen
Slaughter Mountain, San Carlos Reservation, Arizona
This is a botryoidal fire agate specimen in matrix from an American locality that is no longer really producing. It displays fine fire in a multitude of hues. The "fire" in fire agates is due to a thin layer of iridescence that follows along botryoidal (grapelike) surfaces. The body of the agate is always brown with the iridescence usually following the curved surfaces of three-dimensional, botryoidal structures. Measures 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 x 3/4in
