Demantoid garnet specimen
Demantoid Garnet in Matrix
Ambanja District, Diana Region, Antsiranana Province, Madagascar
Madagascar is a country of incredible mineral wealth, well known for its celestites, tourmalines and a range of other gems. However it was not until the Spring of 2009 that it became known for a new, very limited deposit of demantoid garnets of brilliant color. This is an excellent cabinet specimen in which the drusy surface is scattered with bright chartreuse green dodecahedral crystals as well as small calcite crystal clusters. Measures 5 x 4 x 2 1/2 in
Sold for US$ 3,125 inc. premium
