Quartz Sphere on Silver Stand
By Ronald Stevens
Crystal balls have always conjured up ideas of mystery and fantasy. It is believed that the past, present and even the future can be seen by gazing into these enchanting spheres. The present specimen is a true "crystal ball" cut from Brazilian rock crystal. Optically clear quartz is more difficult to find than one might imagine. The present well-polished sphere has some minor inclusions when viewed with a 10x loupe but has generally good clarity. Diameter 4.0cm. (2)
