Moss Agate and Gold Bonbonière

A form of dendritic agate, moss agate has a dendritic formation ("fernlike" branching pattern) of a more three-dimensional form in which the dendrites develop in fissures in quartz. The transparency of the agate allows these formations to be easily seen. This pretty oval bowl is carved from a single piece of highly translucent moss agate, most likely originating in Russia, finished with a fine polish. Fitted with 14K yellow gold Rococo style handles.
