Gemstone Carving of a Finch on a Wildflower Branch
By Paul Dreher
Idar-Oberstein, Germany
This graceful gemstone composition depicts a woodland scene: a finch, the feathers carved of brown speckled jasper, the breast of creamy white chalcedony. His feet rest perched upon an 18K yellow gold branch of a wild rose bush. Nephrite leaves decorate the branch, while rose-cut diamonds decorate the pistils which center on a stamens carved from jasper. The branch emerges from a natural rock crystal quartz base. Height 10in
