Purple-Pink Sapphire, 28.98 cts.
Rare, Large and Fine Purple-Pink Sapphire
Sri Lanka
The gem gravels of Ceylon have long produced fancy colored sapphires in a variety of hues. Yet the supply of such stones available on the open market, particularly when they are in no way enhanced, is an ever diminishing one. The present stone falls into this rare category. Well-saturated with a vivid purple-pink color, this natural, unheated sapphire--weighing slightly under 30 carats, is one of those objects of desire that may only be seen once or twice in a lifetime.
Weighing approximately 28.98 carats and measuring 18 x 16.09 x 12.21 mm
Sold for US$ 116,500 inc. premium

Footnotes

  • Accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America report no. 2131081412, dated February 11, 2011 stating that the Purple-Pink, natural sapphire shows no indication of heat treatment.
