Exceptional Golden Yellow Crysoberyl
Brazil
Chrysoberyls are the third hardest naturally occurring gemstone and stand between corundum and topaz on the hardness scale. While smaller chrysoberyls can be seen, one would be hard pressed to find an equal to the present stone with its rich golden yellow color and impeccable luster. The species is more frequently known by the public for its cat's eye variety which, in and of its nature, has inclusions present responsible for creating the cat's eye effect. The present stone--a top example for the serious collector--is indeed a rarity with this combination of color, transparency, and size.
