Very Fine Iolite
India
Iolite is the gem variety of the mineral cordierite. It is frequently confused with sapphire due to its rich blue hue. Usually the pleochroism is very pronounced in iolite and three different colors can be seen in the same stone—violet blue, gray and a lighter blue can be seen depending on the angle of sight. This is a fine rectangular faceted stone with good transparency and rich color saturation of a deep violet blue.
Weighing approximately 11.18 carats and measuring 14.5 x 11.5 x 9.0mm
