FIRST EDITION of an important primary source on colonial Pennsylvania, with reference to Benjamin Franklin and his attempt to raise funds for the army of General Braddock. "It was evidently designed to make the French people happy over the course of the struggle with the English in North America. It abridges Smith's Brief View with its portrayal of the helplessness of Pennsylvania in repulsing Indian atrocities" (Streeter). The fine map shows from the western Allegheny mountains to western New Jersey ("Nouvelle York"). Sabin 19370; Streeter 960; Vail 516.
