Original pen & ink and watercolor on paper, 545 x 440 mm, of Miss Clavel and eleven of the little girls watching the parade of Guardsmen, signed ("Bemelmans") at lower right and additionally stamped ("Bemelmans / Madeline") and noted "60" at center of stamp, inscribed by the artist in block print: "Sketch for Madeline in London," mild toning to sheet, otherwise very fine, framed.
Sketch for the sequence that concludes "And so are the people on ship and shore," as Miss Clavel and the 11 girls watch the Queen's Life Guard parade.
