FIRST EDITION of the joint publication between Breuer and Freud which laid the groundwork for the latter's masterwork of 1900, The Interpretation of Dreams. "Studien über Hysterie, which gives the first detailed account of the free-association method, is customarily regarded as the starting-point of psychoanalysis" (Norman F25).
