Additional engraved title. 182 engraved maps (of 183, without folding map of New England) in text by Hondius, R. Hall, Pieter van den Keere, and J. van Loon, including a duplicate and one pasted-in folding map. Woodcut head and tailpieces and initials. 19th-century calf rebacked, edges stained red. title inked to fore-edge, tear to upper corner of 3B5 with loss to map of the Archbishopricke of Colen, edges of titles and explanation of engraved title lightly chipped and brittle, binding chipped and scuffed.
Provenance: Muller (inkstamp dated 1894 to front pastedown).

FIRST PRINTING IN ENGLISH, with a duplicate map of New Spain on p 905, issued before the map of Virginia which was to be pasted over it. Samuell Cartwright is listed in the imprint on the engraved title, which is dated 1635. STC (2nd ed) 17824.5; see Phillips 451 & 4255 and Sabin 47885.
