Barker of Philadelphia and 19 double-page maps of the States and Territories by A. Doolittle of Newhaven , Barker , and others). Period tree sheep, red morocco spine label. Custom half morocco box. Some spotting and toning, occasional small splits to maps (most noticeably to the fold of the map of New York state), binding with scuffing to extremities.

FINE UNSOPHISTICATED COPY OF THE THIRD EDIITION OF CAREY'S CHARMING ATLAS: THE FIRST EDITION TO INCLUDE LOUISIANA. Carey published at least four editions of his Pocket Atlas: the first edition in 1796 (a 12mo with 19 maps); a second in 1801 (also 12mo and 19 maps); the present 8vo issue with the map of Louisiana added for the first time (the text mentions the Louisiana purchase of 1803) and then a fourth edition in 1814 with 22 maps.
