Folio (320 x 214 mm). [-]2 A-E4 a-c6 d2 B-3I6 3K4 (-3K4 blank) 4A-6T6 6V-6Y4 7A-7C6 (-7C6 blank). "The Minde of the Front" leaf and errata present. Engraved allegorical title-page; 8 double-page engraved maps. Modern full calf to style. Lacking 2 blanks, title and maps shaved (half of them to within neat line), "chronological table" shaved, inkstamp shelfmark to about 5 margins.

FIRST EDITION of Raleigh's unfinished world history, written while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. The opening verse is by Ben Jonson. Raleigh's description of the site and topography of Paradise is cited as an important source for Milton. Pforzheimer 820; STC 20637.
