FIRST EDITION IN ENGLISH of the account of the first official French expedition to circumnavigate the globe, commanded by Bougainville. The title claims that the translation is by Johann Forster, who served as a naturalist with Captain Cook aboard the Resolution from 1772-75, but Hill opines that Georg Reinhold, who assisted his father aboard the Resolution, may have been the actual translator of the main text, while Johann contributed the preface, dedication and footnotes.
