ILLUMINATED LEAVES.
3 illuminated manuscript leaves on vellum from 2 manuscripts, [France, early 15th century]. 2 leaves being from a Book of Hours, 14 lines, red and black inks, gothic bookhand, written space 100 x 75 mm, 3 two-line initials in gold on blue and pale red grounds, and FOUR MINIATURES of Saints Andreas, John the Baptist, Nicholas, and another, the largest showing Andreas on a pale red, blue and gold checkerboard ground, the borders with black tendrils having blue, red, gold and green leaves; the third leaf from a psalter, 17 lines, red and black inks, gothic bookhand, written space 100 x 65 mm, four-line initial in blue on gold ground with red and blue ivy-leaf filling, border extension of red and blue leaves on gold ground, bristling tendrils with gold leaves extending further into border, the verso with MINIATURE OF THE ANNUNCIATION, framed together, a little smudging and flaking.
