[Vintage] NAMIKI: Dunhill-Namiki Birds Over Blossoms Maki-e Fountain Pen, 1930s
Two birds in flight over Japanese blossoms. Lever filled, 1930s. Gold, red and green hiramaki-e over black lacquer ground. 135 mm. 14K gold nib. Signed by maki-e master Syucho Makino (born 1889, died ?), who was awarded prizes for his work in 1929. See Murakami's "Dunhill-Namiki and Lacquer Pens" (p. 59) and Hutt & Overbury's "Alfred Dunhill: The Art of Lacquer Pens" (p. 153). Light wear, small losses to maki-e work, no significant damage. With box (presumed original).
