second quarter 18th century
The rectangular box with slightly domed cover decorated with pastoral scenes fitted with single side drawer and four subsidiary boxes, including bone gaming chips and thirteen silvered brass coins with equestrian figure inscribed CAROLUS D G DVX LOTH MARCH D C B G, verso with armorial inscribed GECT DE LA CHAMB 1663 DE VILLE DE NANCY, possibly for Karl IV of Loraine (1624-75).
