Meiji period, 19th century
Of globular shape finely cast to either side with stylized floral and karashishi reliefs raised on a densely patterned ground repeated on the neck featuring raised foliate and dragon-and-jewel bands and encircled by a 'cicada' border on the shoulder, a relief band of linked blossoms above the splayed supports with further archaistic accents, the low domical lid surmounted by a sculptural karashishi finial and pair of large squared U-shaped handles decorated en suite (base drilled).
