Decorated in gold, silver and iro-e hiramakie, takamakie, togidashi, mura-nashiji and kirikane with prunus and cranes silhouetted against a black ground, the interior illustrating the 'Yatsuhashi' chapter in the Ise monogatari with a pair of figures on a plank bridge over a pond of flowering iris on a nashiji ground repeated on the removable bottom tray flanked by an inkstone below a gilt copper suiteki worked with a repoussé karashishi (sunstruck, losses to water dropper).
