Two carved marble seated mourners from a Parinirvana group
Burma, 19th/20th century
Each monk posed with his hands raised in namaskara mudra, as he sits with his legs to one side upon a low plinth to witness the death of the Buddha who would have been carved as a separate recumbent figure; together with a pair of travertine rectangular pedestals.
