A rare inlaid cast bronze tripod vessel
Ming dynasty
The hemispherical body raised upon three tall legs of elaborate silhouette and supporting two inverse U-shaped handles, the exterior surfaces unusually inlaid in bands of malachite stones surrounding repeating abstract patterns highlighted in gold sheet and silver inlay; the interior patina showing signs of wear as use as a censor and incised with four jiaguwen characters possibly reading [zi] sun zhi bao.
