A group of thirteen brocade and embroidered rank badges
Late Qing dynasty
The brocade-woven badges all split down the center and including three in a yellow and black brocade, possibly depicting a seventh rank golden pheasant and a fourth in white and brown brocade of the fifth rank silver pheasant; the eight embroidered rank badges including a pair of possible wild goose badges in metallic threads and another pair of ninth rank paradise flycatchers, one second rank golden pheasant, three examples of what appears to be a fourth rank wild goose and one possible seventh rank mandarin duck in metallic threads; together with one elaborately woven and painted kesi-woven roundel fragment of flowers and butterflies, one embroidered black silk ground roundel incorporating some of the Twelve Imperial Symbols amid clouds, one red silk ground square with polychrome embroidered crane, one rectangular kesi-woven and painted fragment of a dragon and two European style lady's purses made from embroidered fragments of clothing or rank badges (some rank badges with applied birds, all with wear, some with losses, soiling, repairs).
