An archaistic carved stone sculpture of a bodhisattva
Northern Qi style
The figure carved in deep raised relief against an ovoid flaming mandorla and attired in princely garb holding a sash in his upraised right hand and perhaps an ewer in his lowered left, supported by a lotus plinth above a square base fronted by two facing lions on one side and reversed by a partially legible inscription of twelve or more characters; the figure bearing traces of lacquer and pigment (minor losses to stone).
