Two porcelain vases with underglaze red and blue decoration
Late Qing dynasty
The first of with waisted neck, a pair of animal mask and mock ring handles applied at the shoulder of the body of inverted double gourd form painted with a tiger prowling beneath the sun, the base bearing a four-character Daoguang mark in underglaze blue seal script; the second a garlic-headed vase with a globular body supported on a tall, spreading base, painted with a hanging jewel band, auspicious fruit sprays and phoenix roundels in underglaze blue and copper red, the flat base left unglazed.
