A pair of coral red and gilt decorated porcelain vases
Jiaqing mark, late 19th century
The ovoid vases of compressed rectangular section supporting unusually-shaped handles of half-moon shape, the exterior sides covered in a dense ground of stylized lotus and vine motifs between lotus petal and plantain bands encircling the neck and the foot surrounding the recessed bases glazed in a thin turquoise glaze and bearing the horizontal six-character mark in iron-red (wear to gilt, firing crack to one handle).
