An English brass-barreled flintlock pistol by Henry Hadley
mid-18th century
The 8 inch, large bore brass barrel with swamped muzzle and marked London with Tower marks for private arms. Brass lockplate with stepped tail and signed Hadley. Flat, swan-necked cock. Brass furniture including ramrod thimbles, triggerguard, skeletal sideplate, spurred buttcap and oval wrist escutcheon. Full walnut stock with simple relief panel at the barrel tang.
Condition: Very good. Brass with dark, unpolished patina. Triggerguard an old replacement. Stock with scattered dents and bruises, chipping at buttcap and with hairline cracks at fore-end, sideplate and at lockplate tail.
