Edo Period
The heavy 25 inch blackened barrel in .75 caliber smoothbore; gold key fret band at muzzle, the barrel between the fore-sight and rear sight engraved and gilt with the figures of two dragons; breech section with silver crossed hawk feather mon above a gilt inscription referring to Aki Province and the Asano family. Coppered brass lock with blackened iron serpent, the inscribed blackened iron pan with copper cover. Blackened iron triggerguard. Full stock, the underside with arsenal stamp.
Condition: Fine to excellent. Some losses to gilt decoration. Lock needs adjustment.
