Serial no. 8165, .50 caliber. 21 3/4 inch blued barrel, left breech flat marked L.F.R.. Casehardened action marked Address/Poultney & Trimble/Baltimore, U.S.A./Manufactured/Amn Mchn Wks/Springfield,Mass./Smith's Patent/June 23, 1857. Sling bar with ring. Oil-finished walnut stock and fore-end, left wrist with inspector's cartouche JH.
Condition: Fine. Barrel retains much thin blue finish. Action retains most faded casehardening. Wood with scattered light marks, right side of wrist with hairline crack, buttstock with remains of tape.
