A U.S. Model of 1864 Burnside's Patent breechloading carbine
Serial no. 11903, .54 caliber. 21 inch barrel marked Cast Steel. Standard 4th Type. Sling ring and swivel. Oil-finished stock and fore-end, the left side of the wrist with two inspector's cartouches.
Condition: Very good. Barrel with dark grey patina retaining traces of thin blue finish and with scattered patches of light pitting. Action with mottled patina and scattered light spotting. Lockplate markings very worn. Stock showing scattered dents, scratches and bruises, one cartouche partially obscured.
