A scarce Model 1878 Sharps-Borchardt saddle ring carbine
Serial no. 10131, .45-70 caliber. 24 inch Old Reliable barrel with standard fore-sight and Lawrence rear sight. Action with saddle ring. Plain walnut stock and fore-end. Shotgun butt.
Condition: Very good. Metal showing mottled grey/brown patina with scattered minor pitting, sharp markings and with traces of blue remaining on action. Bore showing some very light pitting. Rear sight probably a replacement. Wood showing scattered small marks, the wrist with large, neatly repaired chip to right side and several small hairline cracks at frame juncture.
