An inscribed U.S. Marine Corps Pattern 1831 enlistedman's buff leather waist belt
A lot of four items of American military equipment
Comprising: 1) An inscribed U.S. Marine Corps Pattern 1831 enlistedman's buff leather waist belt, circa 1880-1910, the plain, rectangular brass waistbelt plate, reverse with tongue and belt loop; white buff leather belt, the interior with inked inscription W.A. LeForestier/Private U.S.M.C. with an id number. 2) Two sword frogs including: a buff leather frog for the Model 1840 NCO sword and a blackened buff leather frog for the Model 1833 foot artillery sword. 3) An early American militia waistbelt with frog and bayonet scabbard, the wide, buff leather belt with two brown leather fastening straps with iron buckles and attached bayonet frog, the 14 1/2 inch black leather bayonet scabbard decorated with impressed six-pointed stars.
Condition: 1) Brass with dark patina, leather with some light staining. 2) Both very sound, the first with some staining. 3) Leather dry but sound. Tip of scabbard detached.
