An electroplate champron in 16th century style
The silver-plated champron comprising upper neck and head defense with ear defenses and hinged side plate, all with roped rims and etched with bands of floral meander within strapwork borders. No maker's markings. The reverse with applied article from a periodical stating the history of the 19th century Elkington electroplate armors and stating that a large group was purchased from the Victoria & Albert Museum in the 1920s by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios for use as movie props.
Condition: Showing scattered marks and one small tear.
