A deluxe presentation U.S. Model 1860 staff & field officer's swords
By E.A. Armstrong of Chicago, Illinois; 30 1/2 inch blade with 17 inch panel etched with florals, panoplies, eagle and Federal shields, one side with J.H. Bowra on a matte grey reserve; gilt brass hilt of standard pattern; grip of silvered copper molded with panels of oak leaves and bound with flattened copper wire; nickeled scabbard with presentation inscription Presented to/Lieut. J.H. Bowra/By the Members of Company M/1st Inf. I.N.G./Commemorating/APris 24th/1893; gilt brass mounts pierced with scrollwork.
Condition: Blade showing some patches of spotting but generally fine. Hilt retains generous traces of gilt finish, the folding counterguard missing the button. Scabbard with dark patina and missing much of the nickel finish, the mounts retaining traces of finish.
