A lot of two U.S. Model 1860 staff & field officer's swords
Comprising: 1) Example by Ames Mfg. Co., circa 1870-80, 29 inch blade with 15 inch panel etched with conventional motifs; gilt brass hilt of standard pattern, grey shagreen and gilt brass wire-wrapped grip; nickeled scabbard with gilt mounts. 2) Deluxe example retailed by Iver Johnson Sporting Goods Co. of Boston, Mass.; 28 inch blade with 16 inch etched panel including inscription 1st Lieut. Sherman E. Baketel, Co. A M.H.S. Cadets, 1922-1923; gilt brass hilt, silvered bronze grip wrapped with brass wire; nickeled scabbard, gilt brass mounts pierced with scrollwork.
Condition: Both excellent and showing some light wear to gilt finish. 1) With light spotting to scabbard finish.
