A U.S. Model 1850 foot officer's sword
Unmarked, slightly curved 30 1/2 inch blade showing traces of conventional decoration. Gilt brass hilt of standard pattern. Black leather and brass wire-wrapped grip. Black leather scabbard with gilt brass mounts.
Condition: Blade showing scattered spotting and light pitting. Hilt and scabbard mounts with dark, uncleaned patina and retaining much of the gilt finish. Grip showing some scuffing but very sound. Scabbard leather also showing surface scuffing but very sound.
