An Afghani cavalry saber
Broad, slightly curved 32 1/2 inch blade with sharpened 9 inch false edge and broad, nearly full-length fuller; ricasso with what are probably spurious marks: Enfield/1857 and E/crown/1; reverse with Arabic number 803. Iron hilt with slotted guard, broad downcurving quillon and bird's head grip with small wooden inserts. Black leather scabbard with iron mounts, the throat with suspension ring on the reverse.
Condition: Blade with patches of spotting/light pitting. Hilt with dark patina and areas of light pitting. Scabbard with minor scuffing, the mounts with considerable light pitting.
