A Persian shamshir
19th century
Curved 30 inch blade with broad, shallow fuller and sequential inscription above the hilt. Brass guard, the quillon tips pierced with scrollwork. Grip with bone gripscales and silver wire ferrule, the pommel pierced for a lanyard.
Condition: Blade showing scattered light pitting and staining. Gripscales showing some chipping and two small repaired areas, one side an old replacement.
