A silver-mounted Arabian shamshir
19th century
Curved 33 inch blade of watered steel. Engraved silver crossguard with fluted finials; silver wire ferrule; grip with wooden scales set with brass studs, small iron stars and silver plates; downcurving silver pommel cap, the base wrapped in silver wire. Leather-covered scabbard having long German silver mounts and engraved silver suspension mounts en suite to guard.
Condition: Blade showing much wear to watered pattern and some areas of spotting/light pitting. Guard with crude period repair. Grip with some cracks and minor losses. Scabbard mounts were probably replaced during period of use.
