A massive Indian tegha
18th or early 19th century
Broad, slightly curved 32 inch blade having three wide fullers defined by narrow ridges inlaid with brass bands; lower 12 inches of blade inlaid with brass banding and numerous figures of animals and personages. Iron tulwar hilt with long languets, short and heavy quillons, recurved knucklebow and wheel pommel with tall finial and showing slight traces of silver-overlaid decoration.
Condition: Showing dark, heavy age patina overall with areas of pitting overall.
