A lot of two Moro kampilan
Philippines, late 19th/early 20th century
Straight 30 1/2 and 28 inch single edged blades. Wood crossguards with undulating steel staple as hand guard. Hilts with chip-carved and scrolling decorative elements, branched terminals. Plaited fiber grips and attached trade cloth drops. Without scabbards.
Condition: Blades with light pitting. Wood elements with overall light wear and patina consistent with age. The shorter example with a few minor associated chips or cracks, pierced along one side for horsehair attachments (now lacking).
